If you’re worried about the cost of going on a placement, you should check whether you are eligible for some additional financial support. BU offers funding to eligible students through the Placement Opportunity Fund.
This fund has been set up to ensure that, no matter what background you’re from, you will be able to go on placements that are an integral part of your degree programme. The money available is specifically for UK students who come from an area where people don’t often go to university, are from specific demographics where participation in higher education is low, or from a family with a low income or where no one has attended university before.
The Placement Opportunity Fund can help with expenses such as clothing for interviews, essential uniforms and tools, some travel and living costs, as well as Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
Awards from the fund will be made on a first-come, first-served basis to those meeting the eligibility criteria. Visit MyCareerHub to find out more about who can apply for this support and to complete the online form.
