Applications are now open for the 2016 Search For A Star games coding & art competitions, with the potential to win dream jobs at leading UK games studios.
As part of the award-winning Grads In Games initiative, the Search For A Star & Rising Star competitions are designed to give students and graduates unique opportunities to get a headstart in forging a career in video games development.
Getting into the games industry as a graduate programmer or artist can be, and often is, a tough task for many. Despite the multitude of talents and skills that students and graduates possess, many still come up against barriers to getting their first industry role.
Developed hand-in-hand with industry partners, the competitions showcase the best of the games industry’s next generation of coders and artists, giving everyone who enters a better chance at breaking through into their dream games industry roles.
In 2015, 80% of those who passed the first round were then able to graduate with a job in the games industry.
Through the competition you will get a chance to take part in challenges modelled on actual industry processes, develop a portfolio piece to a professional brief, and gain invaluable direct insights from games professionals.
The grand prize for Search For A Star is a job interview with our partner studios.
The grand prize for Rising Star is an opportunity to intern with Sumo Digital, one of the biggest independent studios in the UK, developers of LittleBigPlanet 3 and currently working with Disney Infinity.
